Why Work in Dubai?
Jobs in Dubai City - Why Work in Dubai? by Dubai City Guide Summer 2008
Dubai is diverse, dynamic and multifaceted. It has the fastest growing expatriate population in the world. Reputed for its high living standards , Dubai attracts thousands of expatriate job seekers every year. Apart from its multicultural and open community, there are many reasons why people try to find jobs in Dubai for their career and lifestyle improvements.

The most prominent reason is the tax-free system. Whatever revenue you earn while in Dubai is completely yours and there are no income, property or profit taxes levied on any person. Contrary to popular belief, this tax-free system is not something created to attract foreign investors to Dubai. It’s a belief and tradition rooted in religion, where direct taxation is prohibited. So, a salary earned in Dubai contributes to more savings, more disposable income and a much better lifestyle.
The world economic conditions rarely effect Dubai and although inflation rates have gone up and living costs are higher than it used to be, the emirate is still a favourite among Westerners and Europeans looking to settle down in a sunny location with all the modern conveniences at their fingertips. The advanced telecommunications, construction, oil & gas, engineering, media, information technology, medical and financial services industries in Dubai are capable of paying high salaries to their employees and this is great enticement for qualified and experienced professionals in these fields.
Employees in Dubai are protected by the labour law, which covers factors such as salary, working hours, working conditions, medical care, benefits, leave entitlements, employment termination rights and even repatriation. Throughout the first 5 years of service, an employee is allowed a 21-day long holiday period, which becomes a 30-day allowance afterwards. The normal working hours are limited to 48 hours per week, with Friday and Saturday as the weekend. This is subject to change depending on the industry and job type.
The advanced infrastructure, comfortable living and working conditions, family-oriented lifestyle, social activities, abundant leisure/recreational facilities, advanced education system and strictly regulated and high-quality medical facilities make Dubai an ideal place to live and work in without worries.
